How do you select your methods?

Methods are selected on whether they fit one of our four focus subject areas of business strategy, marketing, product development and organizational effectiveness. And then the expert is selected on the basis of having a well practiced method based on years of experience. This experience is based on work with a wide variety of clients and an emphasis on getting the project done rather than on knowing the theory.

What do I need to use this?

iCanPilot is an installed software that includes all videos and templates that you will need on your project. An Internet connection is needed for download only, not required for use, so you can be sure you can use it anytime and anywhere, even if your strategic retreat is on a deserted island.

The software runs on Windows 7, Windows Vista®,Windows XP, Windows 2000 (* Mac version coming soon).

Other equipment you might need for your sessions:
A projector (for teams larger than 2)
Speakers (to make sure everyone can hear the virtual facilitator and videos)

Can I use it alone?

A good core project team consists of 2-5 members, depending on the size of your organization. You can do it alone but is not preferred.

What is difference vs e-learning?

This is software intended to guide you and a small team through a project. It is designed to help you have sessions that get work done each time and in between those sessions. You start and stop it as needed. It is not an individual session where you are “graded” on the correctness of your answers. It is not intended to assist you in gaining mastery of the material before you start but to get your work done while learning a method.

What is the difference vs what I get in the book?

If the expert has written a book on the topic, it often can provide even more detail and theory behind why work steps are done. However, there are often additional resources and new thinking they have added due to their own professional advances. And more importantly, you have to do the work to extract the materials to use to get the project done. In the iCanPilot package the examples of where the tools are applied, the templates for guiding in the tool use, the suggested steps for the project are meant to accelerate and simplify your work while gaining skills in a practiced method.

Is it just a video of the consultant?

While this is software package does contain video clips of the expert describing key “do work” sessions for your project, it also contains narrated screens that background you and your team enough to do step by step work for the project, a powerful Excel (TM) workbook that captures your output and feeds it to the next exercise, links to additional resources and the member’s peer to peer community and several document templates to be used by your team.

Will the expert be involved in helping me directly?

The expert is helping indirectly through this virtual facilitation software. His or her years of experience is enhanced by iCanPilot’s design of the workflow sessions for you to get your project done. In some cases, the expert will choose to make additional comments through the Members Lounge for that specific title.

I want to hire the expert. Can you provide the contact information?

I am a consultant. Can I use the videos and tools with my clients’ team?

The End User License Agreement indicate that the use of this projectware is not for commercial use. This means you can not charge for renting or using the software as your process. However, if your client buys their own copy and asks you to be a team member and go through it with them using arrangement acceptable to them, that is fine. As the person on their team with additional experience it is likely you will need your own copy.
